Eduardo Lapetina is the Featured Artist for October at the Focal Point Gallery

PRLog (Press Release) - Sep. 22, 2011 - Eduardo Lapetina, an internationally renowned artist, will be featured in October at Focal Point Gallery in Chapel Hill, NC. His reception is on October 14 from 6pm-9pm. Lapetina, an Argentinean-born son of Italian immigrants, moved to North Carolina in 1976. He traveled the world giving lectures in medical science. About 10 years ago he was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, retired from cardiovascular research, and dedicated all his time to paint. He said his creations of abstracts are not that different from what he did in science. For when you are immersed in an experiment, you do not know what the final outcome will be and are often surprised by it.
Lapetina has received numerous awards and accolades. He is a passionate artist, using many layers of color built one over the other. He does not use modeling paste or any fillers, just paint mixed right onto the canvas. He states that there is a physical process where he applies paint in various ways - pouring, splashing, dripping, scratching, and so on - until he gets what he wants.  This process results in paintings that are about discovery, demands, and contemplation from the viewer.
