Otis Sallid Speaks At Berklee
2.How will I accomplish them?
Goals are a tricky thing. Sometimes one can start out on a mission, focus on a vision, a place of arrival so to speak and try to fathom logically how to arrive. More often than not life sends us on sidetracks in our journey and that makes it difficult to deduce our life outcomes. First and foremost my goal in college essentially to become a better communicator for it has been said to the point of cliché’ that the pen is mightier than the sword.
I take this adage to mean that thought directed and focused is superior to brute force and will lend itself to accomplishing tasks much more affectively. If that IS the case and we are to believe the wisdom in the words of our forebears than it is also perseverance I have found that is necessary and essential in the accomplishment of any goal.So communicating my needs and what I want to accomplish is first and foremost I need to let my professors know I am here to succeed.
Also what is primary in my plan to succeed in college to accept that I may not be the best at everything, but to make a pact with myself that despite any adversity I may confront I will persevere. I will improve myself and earn credits toward my larger goal of achieving a degree or new knowledge that will increase my potential. Such a degree I will hold in esteem as evidence of my improvement.
We live in a society that values the written word we uphold our writs of law or constitutions and declarations, monetary notes and credit reports our odes and soliloquies. In truth it is by gaining a parchment of written words attesting to our individual skills that we more often than not succeed within the rules of this society. Whether it is true or not that attaining this testament will make us a better person remains to be seen.
How do you stay organized? Why should you be organized?
Some stay organized by keeping a calendar and a schedule with important times and appointments for the week. I try to schedule things in order of importance so that the most important things are accomplished as soon as possible. By prioritizing these tasks my workload becomes more manageable and less stressful. Most importantly those things I need to accomplish get done in a timely manner. Good note taking will also help many stay organized.
Setting aside time to accomplish tasks is also a major focus for me when utilizing calendars to make time for family and work. By effectively planning and accounting for my time I am able to set aside extra personal time that may have been squandered or wasted. I also use my computer to set reminders for important tasks this allows me to keep a forward momentum going as it pertains to all I am required to do.
The most important thing is to understand this is YOUR education what you learn and how well you learn it is up to you. It can be the start of a new worldview for some and an expansion of horizons or it can be an arduous and daunting task. Like life it is what you make of it that counts. Lastly attitude has a bearing on how well you will do going in to an educational environment with a positive attitude attracts others who are goal oriented and input from a strong intelligent study group can make a C student a B+ very easily.
