Sept. 22, 2011 - PRLog -- To increase trans-Atlantic productivity and expansion, Bremen Invest (WFB Wirtschaftsfoerderung Bremen GmbH) has been operating an international office, located within the German American Chamber of Commerce of the Southern United States, Inc. in Atlanta, Georgia.   The office, operating under the name of Bremen Invest, is the lead agency for American business development in the federal state of Bremen in Germany.

Bremen boasts such company locations as Daimler’s 2nd largest production facility with approximately 13,500 employees and a production rate of about 360,000 vehicles per year. The production facility produces the Mercedes C-Class, a task shared with the Mercedes plant in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Also located in the state of Bremen is the BLG Logistics Group (a 50% partner in Europe's largest port operating company "Eurogate"), EADS/Airbus and many of their suppliers, several wind energy companies and Beck & Co. brewery (the best-selling German-imported beer in the US). American companies such as the European headquarters of Kellogg’s and Kraft Foods and a Johnson Controls headliner production facility for Daimler also operate out of Bremen. Smaller but equally successful companies such as Wesco Aircraft and Nuvasive (both out of California) and Sensient Technologies (out of Wisconsin) have found a strong place of business in Bremen.

Mr. Andreas Heyer, CEO of WFB Bremen in Germany said, “The [Bremen Invest] office assists and encourages Bremen companies who want to do business in The States, as well as American companies looking for expansion in Europe.  We think we can make a case for your company to try Bremen first.”

Bremen has some similarities to the Southeast United States such as a large motivated, reliable and trainable workforce, low operating costs, lower taxes and comparatively lower costs of living. The medium-sized city of Bremen, one of three city-states in Germany has the infrastructure of a larger city and one of the best rail systems and airports in all of Europe.
Kirk Atkinson, U.S. Director of Bremen Invest said, “In order to stay competitive, both American and German business owners are expanding trans-Atlantic operations. For American companies, Germany is an obvious choice because it is arguably one of the most stable and productive economies in the world.  However, breaking into a new market can be intimidating and daunting to attempt by one’s self, and that’s what we’re here for."

Having lived and worked in Bremen, Kirk Atkinson knows the differences and compatibilities in business and social culture, law and immigration, taxes and labor; things that one needs to know before attempting an international market investment. It’s with that knowledge and experience, he can properly introduce US companies to new business opportunities in Europe, especially Bremen, which has a remarkably strong mix of public and private support for new business growth.

Atkinson continued, “If you or your company is curious about doing business in Europe, especially in Germany, let me and my colleagues in Bremen build a case study for you.  It’s easy and free of charge – I’ll come to you.  If we find opportunity, we can offer you a gambit of support services like potential customer contacts, project management, translation, legal and accounting services, identifying German sales associates, reduced-cost office space and utilities, and perhaps further incentives for greater investments.”

In the upcoming months, Bremen Invest will host several events, activities and delegations aimed at promoting trans-Atlantic business growth. Please visit www.keytogermany.com for more information.
