Author John Carmean spun children's book story, Moving Day: Adventures in Hogtown, from Gainesville, Florida legend.

Sept. 22, 2011 - PRLog -- Gainesville, Florida - September 20, 2011 - Gainesville resident, John Carmean, published his first illustrated children’s book through the Apple iTunes iBookstore.

The original story, Moving Day: Adventures in Hogtown, follows the adventures of Patrocles the pig, his sister Pansis, mom and dad as they move from the country to their new home in Hogtown.

Carmean wrote and illustrated the book, the first in the Adventures in Hogtown series, inspired by a local legend he learned of when he was a child.

The Gainesville legend is summed up in Moving Day’s introduction, “Pigtroduction, Legend has it that in the early days of Gainesville, Florida a family of pigs took up residence in the cool shade underneath the town's courthouse.  From this happy occurrence Gainesville soon became known as Hogtown.  This is the story of those pigs, how they came to live there and their... Adventures In Hogtown.”

“Apple has democratized publishing by enabling authors to reach the world directly with their creative works.” says Carmean, “There is in a sense a renewed freedom of the press.” Moving Day is available exclusively on Apple iTunes in 6 countries.

The brightly illustrated story presents themes that help children deal with fear of change, foster a spirit of discovery of their environment and it explores making new friends.
