Fall Registration for Montclair Library Kids Programs Now Open

The Montclair Public Library has events and programs for all ages this fall. The Library has programs for toddlers to teens and they all are free. You do need to register in advance, so give the Library a call or come by.

Hispanic Heritage Month leads off with the Latino Film Festival on Sunday, September 18th.  The Library has programs for toddlers to teens and they all are free. You do need to register in advance, so give the Library a call or come by. In house registration begins Monday, September 19.

FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILIES

Storytimes
Toddler Time
Toddler Time is a special story time for two-year-olds and the adults in their lives. Picture books, flannel board stories, nursery rhymes and finger plays are used to introduce the pleasures of books.
2 year-olds
Registration required.
Tuesdays, October 4, 11, 18 &25 at 10:15 a.m. & 11:15 a.m.

Mother Goose
Mother Goose is designed to promote literacy among our preschool-aged patrons.
Picture books, flannel board stories, songs and puppets are used to build upon children’s natural enthusiasm for books and reading.
Ages 3 to 6
Registration required.
Wednesdays, October 5, 12, 19 & 26 at 2:00 p.m.

Babies in the Library
Babies meet babies! This lap program is designed to acquaint parents and caregivers with the resources available in the library for their children. Rhymes, songs, language activities, and board books will be introduced during each session. Make baby’s first library experience a special one.
Babies   6-13 mos. at 10:15 a.m.
Babies 14-23 mos. at 11:15 a.m.

Drop-In Craft
Crafts are a fun way to share time with your little ones. Listen to some fun stories, sing songs together, and then color a take-home craft using your imagination!
No registration required
Ages 4 and up

SPECIAL EVENTS
10thAnnual Latino Film Festival
September 15 through October 15 is Hispanic Heritage Month. Local Montclair High School students invite the community of Montclair and surrounding cities to enjoy 4 films which celebrate Hispanic heritage and its cultural influences. Each film will be introduced by a note-worthy Hispanic guest speaker. Film titles to be announced. Join us for any, or all, of the films in our tenth year!

Canciones: Hispanic Music for Kids
Enjoy traditional Hispanic songs from Puerto Rico, Haiti, Venezuela, Cuba and Mexico as performed on acoustic guitar! This popular informal concert includes new songs with background discussion about the songs, choruses and styles.

Saturday, October 15 at 2:00 p.m.  

Frightmares: Scary Stories for Brave Souls
Are you so scared of frightening tales that you actually look forward to the next one? Come by and enjoy Eric Rucker's old-fashioned bogey-man stories for the slightly scared, wildly whacky and the totally brave just in time for Halloween!
Ages 6 to 12
Thursday, October 27 at 6:30 p.m.

Halloween Magic Party with Mark Wurst
Kids' magician Mark Wurst returns to Montclair Public Library on the eve of Halloween with hair-raising tricks for a spooktacular display of the impossible! Wurst's feats of wonder will enthrall your little ghouls at this fun family event. He will also amaze everyone small and tall with mind-bending balloon animals that must be seen to be believed! After the performance make a tasty Edible Art tombstone cookie with Marianne Ciffer! Costumes encouraged!
