Sept. 21, 2011 - PRLog -- LEWISTON, Maine – Androscoggin Bank invites the community to join the Bank in supporting this season’s fifth and final exhibit for Art Walk Lewiston Auburn. The Art Walk, which transforms the downtown areas of Lewiston and Auburn into arts districts for one evening each month, is an independent grassroots endeavor by community members, artists, and local businesses who want to celebrate the extraordinary talent of visual artists in Lewiston, Auburn and around Maine. With attendance of the first four exhibits hosted by Androscoggin Bank numbering into the hundreds, the Bank is looking forward to sharing more new artwork with members of the local community.

The fifth exhibit, “Mobile Natura: Botanical iPhoneography,” will feature the work of local artist Kimberly Post Rowe. Rowe’s mobile photography work has been viewed in galleries from New England to California, and as far away as Madrid, Spain. She is also a published author and adjunct instructor at Southern Maine Community College, residing in Raymond, Maine.

The show will feature point-and-shoot photography all captured, processed, enhanced and printed through an iPhone. While cameras incorporated into the iPhone and other mobile devices may be limited in quality and technical options, they bring photographers back to the point-and-shoot spirit of Polaroid and Lomography. “iPhoneography” has quickly become a global movement emerging from its familiar online territory to take its place on the pages of art journals and the walls of galleries. The “Mobile Natura: Botanical iPhoneography” exhibit is being presented by Androscoggin Bank in cooperation with L/A Arts and Gallery 5.

“Mobile Natura: Botanical iPhoneography” will be on display in the lobby of Androscoggin Bank’s Lisbon Street office from September 29 to October 25, 2011. A public reception to launch the new exhibit in Lewiston will take place from 5:00 pm to 8:30 pm on Friday, September 30.

“iPhoneography is an exciting new art form that Androscoggin Bank is pleased to display,” said Ray Michaud, art curator for Androscoggin Bank. “Kimberly's work explores the possibilities of this emerging medium with mastery and facility and shows that there is more to natural photography than an expensive lens.”
