Sept. 21, 2011 - PRLog -- United Kingdom, September 2011 – Lee McQueen, former winner of BBC’s hit reality-TV show “The Apprentice”, talks to Human Resource Management International Digest about the experience he has gained from the programme and why he embarked on his latest business venture, the Raw Talent Academy.  Lee beat 20,000 participants to take the Apprentice title in 2008. After successfully setting up Amscreen with Simon Sugar, he left Lord Sugar’s company in 2010 to start his own business, the Raw Talent Academy.  In this interview, he talks candidly about the lessons learned from working with one of Britain’s most successful entrepreneurs and what he has in mind for his own venture. The interview is freely accessible from the 21 September – 5 October 2011 by logging onto www.emeraldinsight.com/hrmid.htm, with username: Lmcqueen11, and password: emerald11.

In his interview with Human Resource Management International Digest, Lee McQueen explains his initial decision to leave a successful career in recruitment to take part in the show: “What I wanted to do was try to learn how to become a ‘‘true entrepreneur’’, and I felt that I could gain valuable experience working for somebody who is arguably one of the best entrepreneurs the UK has seen over the last 40 years; someone who has been there and done it and become a self-made millionaire. That was my rationale, and I got exactly that.”

This experience gave him the knowledge and confidence to start his own business, the Raw Talent Academy. The Academy’s aim is to help corporations find fresh new sales talent by creating real life business situations, and assessing how candidates respond to the challenge.  Very much inspired by the tasks he faced on the programme, Lee says:  “What I wanted to do was to try and bring candidates to life a little bit and actually put them in Apprentice-style tasks, which is effectively what my business does; it showcases what they can do for their potential employer before they are actually employed”.

The full interview is published in volume 19, issue 6, of Human Resource Management International Digest, which publishes concise and readable reviews and case studies based on the most up-to-date research conducted by leading HR thinkers.
