Toi Toi Wines delivers a fresher, lighter take on Marlborough sauvignon blanc

Exhibiting all the intrinsic qualities that Marlborough is known for, lighter-in-alcohol Rata sauvignon blanc shows vibrant fruity aromas with an alcohol level of 8.5 per cent making it a real alternative to full-strength sauvignon blanc wines.

Sept. 21, 2011 - PRLog -- After a particularly chilly winter in New Zealand, summer is finally on the way bringing with it the latest Toi Toi Rata NV Sauvignon Blanc, an easy to drink, lighter in alcohol wine produced with the conscientious consumer in mind.

As the warmth of summer slowly creeps in, take a minute (or 20) to appreciate the benefits of this crisp and refreshing wine, created in response to the consumer demand for a lighter in alcohol wine that doesn’t compromise on taste. Lighter in alcohol wine is currently one of the fastest developing categories in the Australian wine market with major growth expected for the 2011-2012 summer season.

Named after the Southern Rata, a large and majestic native flowering tree predominantly found in the South Island of New Zealand, Rata NV Sauvignon Blanc is an especially fruity and fresh drop, ideal for those leisurely summer lunches and tranquil balmy evenings, light and refreshing on the palate and effortless to drink.

Exhibiting all the intrinsic qualities that the Marlborough region is renowned for, Rata shows the vibrant fruity aromas and flavours of passionfruit and gooseberries, with an alcohol level of 8.5 per cent making it a real alternative to full-strength sauvignon blanc wines.

During production, fresh cool nights and sunny cloudless days allowed the moderately cropped vines to reach full ripeness, with harvesting exactly on time in early April for optimum flavours. The grapes for this wine were selected from the Marlborough region and machine harvested during the cool mornings to enhance and preserve their inherent flavours. In order to maintain the lighter alcohol content found within Rata, the wines were meticulously blended prior to bottling, and any excess alcohol was removed by reverse osmosis.

As for food? The intense, fruity flavours of this Marlborough sauvignon blanc perfectly offset spicy Asian dishes, tender white meats and fresh seafood while the lighter in alcohol level makes the Rata the perfect lunch time wine.

Available exclusively in Australia at Dan Murphy’s for $9.99, Toi Toi’s Rata is an unbeatable combination of value and flavour. Drink now and over the next one to two years.

Editor’s Note
Toi Toi wines was established by New Zealanders Kevin Joyce and Andrew Bonner in 2006 to craft great quality wines which reflect New Zealand’s terroir at popular prices. The pair have called on their experience in the industry to create Toi Toi: Andrew has been part of the industry for more than 20 years including as Managing Director of Foster’s Group Pacific;  Kevin, a chartered accountant, was acting CEO/Commercial Manager for Tohu Wines before establishing Toi Toi. There was only one Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc from the inaugural vintage but since then the Toi Toi range has grown to include; sparkling wine, prosecco, unoaked chardonnay, riesling, pinot gris, pinot noir, cabernet sauvignon and a late harvest riesling dessert wine. Mostly recently they have added organic wines to their portfolio.
