The Friends of Lana Clarkson React to Today's Statement by Helen Mirren on HBO Spector Film

Sept. 20, 2011 - PRLog -- Los Angeles-  International film star Helen Mirren,  the co-star of the mysterious HBO film about Phil Spector and his attorney Linda Kenny Baden, has finally made a statement about her role in the film. She has also referred to Lana Clarkson herself and her friends. In an interview released today for The Press Association in the United Kingdom, Mirren stated:

"Lana was obviously a really, really lovely woman and, quite rightly, her friends are worried that she will be dissed and she is certainly not dissed in our story at all."

In a response by the group called The Friends of Lana Clarkson, Edward Lozzi, the organization's spokesperson states,

"Although these words from Helen Mirren are very promising, HBO and David Mamet still refuse to show us any facts or script pages concerning how our friend Lana Clarkson is portrayed. We are wondering why HBO has shut down their sets to press, and shut down their own press staff from giving any information about Lana's role to the media. If what Ms. Mirren states about Lana Clarkson's portrayal is true, then why are they still mute. It's almost cruel. We are very grateful to Helen Mirren for having the courtesy and understanding to come forward with her statements which are promising. However we are still concerned about the troubling statements that David Mamet made to the Financial Times that he feels 'Phil Spector is innocent, that he should not be in prison, and that no one knows what really happened that night' Spector murdered Lana Clarkson. All of these statements Mamet made are untrue and a slap in the face to American jurisprudence. The murderer Phil Spector is in prison for life where he belongs, a menace to society. "

Helen Mirren also stated today that, "I would say wait and see it. It's about the relationship between Phil and his defense lawyer.".

The Friends of Lana Clarkson have a problem with this statement, the same and only statement HBO was forced to make in July when the Clarkson Group blitzed the media with their threat to lobby Academy of Television Arts & Sciences voting Emmy members next year not to vote
for any Emmys for a film that 'murders the truth and hurts people alive today'.  

" HBO ignoring us and implying that we don't matter, and that people should not attack this film until they see it, is an insult to our intelligence. Any moron knows that after 5 million people estimated to see this film, a fabricated story written by a friend of Phil Spector, it will be TOO LATE!"  We want Mamet and HBO to give us the courtesy to see how Lana Clarkson is portrayed in this film. Show us the script. Until then, even with Helen Mirren's promising statements today, we do not trust HBO, Mamet, or Levinson with this valuable story.  Lana Clarkson was wrongfully tortured and murdered by the monster Phil Spector.  Her legacy and reputation were then  wrongfully dragged through the mud during this trial. The records show that Linda Kenny Baden defamed and lied about Lana Clarkson more than any other Spector lawyer and she was paid a fortune  to do this.", stated Edward Lozzi, of the Friends of Lana Clarkson.

The untitled HBO film is rumored to be aired in December for the Holiday season.
