By: Simon Weilding Guests complain of stomach cramps, diarrhoea and vomiting. They allege that the problem was so widespread that a guest meeting was arranged and the hotel management arranged for doctor visits at no charge. Concerns have been raised regarding hygiene in the hotel and the poor food is mentioned as a possible cause of illness. Travel Law specialist Paul McClorry from Pannone LLP says that any guests affected may have a claim for compensation. 'Anyone returning from this hotel that was or is suffering illness should immediately consult their GP to confirm exactly what the illness was. They should then seek legal advice regarding possible compensation. If they can prove that their sickness was caused by poor standards of hygiene / food preparation at their hotel then they may be able to pursue a claim against their Tour Operator. Holidaymakers are advised to keep all evidence of illness such as medication receipts and invoices for any treatment received and ensure that the hotel and Tour Operator are made aware of the illness and that this is logged in writing by them.'
