2012 Prius Plug-in - Boise News

Sept. 19, 2011 - PRLog -- The 2012 Prius Plug-in Hybrid has a price set at $32,000. This price is for the base plug-in hybrid. The most expensive Prius Plug-in will have an MSRP of $39,525. The Prius Plug-in will have a 4.4-kWh, 176 lbs battery pack and should qualify for the federal tax credit of $2500. Toyota has also announced the Prius V, which shouldn’t qualify for tax breaks and will start at $26,400. These prices do not include a $760 delivery fee.

The Plug-in Prius will be available in 14 western and east coast states in March 2012. It will be available nation-wide in 2013. Toyota is predicting 15,000 sales in the first year and could be Toyota’s #1 selling family of vehicles.

The Prius Plug-in will be able to travel up to 15 miles up to 62MPH in all-electric mode. The new 4.4kWh lithium-ion battery replaces the old Prius batteries. The new battery will charge in 1.5 hrs with a 240v outlet and 3 hours on a 120v outlet.

Toyota also recently announced charging stations built by Leviton. Toyota says it will offer Leviton’s 16amp, Level 2 charging station for just under $1000 starting in early October.
