The back story of Eco-Me is a deeply personal one. In 2005, founder Robin Kay Levine's sister was diagnosed with breast cancer. With no family history of the disease, or an unhealthy lifestyle contributing to the diagnosis, her doctors deemed her cancer to be due to environmental factors.  What Robin and her sister found was shocking and still holds true today:
•   According to the EPA, air in homes is 3 to 7 times more chemically polluted than outdoor air. The average home contains more than 25 pounds of toxic cleaning products.
•   The Consumer Product Safety Commission stated that of the chemicals commonly found in homes, 150 have been linked to allergies, birth defects, cancer and psychological abnormalities.
•   The Breast Cancer Fund, a non-profit organization, wrote that a substantial and growing body of evidence
indicates that exposures to certain toxic chemicals & hormone mimicking compounds contribute to the
development of breast cancer.  
Armed with these facts, Robin helped her sister to clean out everyday products from her home and replace them with natural, eco-friendly green alternatives. For example, they discovered that vinegar, a food-grade product, reduces 96% of all bacteria. As her sister recovered, Robin realized she could help countless women and families take safer care of their homes. And so, from there, Eco-Me was born.
