This was the first year The Vacation Channel has participated in a weekend long event as a booth sponsor. Our experience there at Hampton Bay Days was a great one. Read this press realease to learn more.

Sept. 19, 2011 - PRLog -- Friday, September 9th, 2011 marked the first day of Bay Days and the first day we had attended an event as a vendor in years.  The company we represent is The Vacation Channel.  We have been platinum sponsors for the past four years and were offered the opportunity to share our expertise with thousands.  The day started with nothing out of the ordinary. Vendors setting up their stations, finding their way to tents and clearing out any confusion that might be there. The Vacation Channel found their tent and there was minimal stress. While we did have a bit of a back and forth with our friends from Chile's over tent ownership/space we found everyone from both teams to be very helpful and courteous.    This leads us to give a big thank you to the entire event staff that helped coordinate and answer all the various questions that they must have received. They certainly helped us out that morning.  It was a sluggish start on Friday as we waited for parents, children and families alike to finish with school, or work and head our way, but foot traffic quickly picked up.  We thought that Bay Days as a whole had a great atmosphere and there were lots to see and do throughout Downtown Hampton, VA. There were a myriad of booths filled with different artists and delicious foods that it made it tough for us to take it all in.  At The Vacation Channel booth we were given the opportunity to educate so many people, locals and visitors alike, on all of the many great things that the Hampton Roads area has to offer. It was a great experience to get to talk to so many nice people who traveled many mile for this event. Even when the sun went down and the crowd changed to the faces of the young, we were met with a variety of youngsters interested in finding out more about the Hampton Roads area.
While our goal was to garner 'likes' on The Vacation Channel Facebook Page and to increase the numbers that our newsletter reaches, we also had other incentives at our booth.  We played Minute to Win It games as seen on the NBC show. This was when the fun got started, especially for us. We had the pleasure of playing the emcee for these games and enjoyed the interaction of the back and forth between our staff and the visitors. All of the games were simple, and if you were willing to put pride and shame aside you were simply going to have fun. We gave away great prizes regardless of whether they won or not in the name of fun. It just felt good and very rewarding to see people win.  We would call this year’s Bay Days a true success. It's hard to enjoy the event in its entirety when you're working it, but you receive a different type of enjoyment in the giving of your time when people are walking away more knowledgeable about this great destination. We look forward to coming back to Bay Days in the years to come.  Big thanks to everyone, no matter the size of your involvement, for making Bay Days such a success!  Be sure to follow us on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Vacation-Channel/115605....
