Sept. 19, 2011 - PRLog -- Reactive Attachment Disorder is a disorder that arises from a failure to form normal attachments to primary caregivers in early childhood.  Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD) is a very real and serious disorder that affects many teens and children today.  RAD often affects adopted children or children that lost a birth parent through death or divorce.  There are many teens affected by RAD that do not know it.  Signs and symptoms of RAD in toddlers, older children and adolescents may include:
•   Withdrawing from others
•   Avoiding or dismissing comforting comments or gestures
•   Acting aggressively toward peers
•   Watching others closely but not engaging in social interaction
•   Failing to ask for support or assistance
•   Obvious and consistent awkwardness or discomfort
•   Masking feelings of anger or distress
•   Alcohol or drug abuse in adolescents

If your child is experiencing any of the above issues and you would like more information about the options that are available contact Sorenson’s Ranch School in Koosharem, UT.  Sorenson’s Ranch School specializes in helping youth struggling with Reactive Attachment Disorder.  Visit the website at http://www.sorensonsranch.com or http://www.sorensonranchschool.com.  You can also call 1-800-455-4590 for more information.
