Darker colours can be used in bathrooms and are done so successfully but for very small bathrooms, always try and use lighter pastel shades which will work brilliantly.

Smaller bathrooms also work well with less busier wall tile patterns, if too many conflicting wall tile patterns are used the bathroom will appear busy and cluttered and for smaller bathrooms, this may make the bathroom appear smaller than it really is.
