Grammy Nominated Songstress Maimouna Youssef Presents

Sept. 18, 2011 - PRLog -- (Silver Spring, MD) – Maimouna Youssef, a seasoned singer, emcee, songwriter and poet hailing from Baltimore, Maryland has received national accolades, including a Grammy nod for her work with The Roots. On September 23, the electrifying soul singer will perform singles from her first full-length album, entitled “The Blooming” to be independently released on September 20. “The Blooming is complete with collaborations from legendary producer DJ Jazzy Jeff and artists including DMV Grammy-nominated recording artist Raheem DeVaughn, Violinist Chelsea Green and others.  The Blooming Album Release concert is presented by Youssef’s management company, The Adinkra Group; doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the concert begins at 8 p.m. at the Montgomery College Cultural Arts Center at Silver Spring, located at 7995 Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring, Maryland. Maimouna “Mumu Fresh” Youssef is a Grammy-nominated seasoned singer, emcee, songwriter and poet. She received a Grammy nomination for her contribution on the Roots hit “Don’t Feel Right” in 2007 for best rap song. She has swapped musical licks with such artists as Angelique Kidjo, Brian Wilson’s band, Big Daddy Kane, Nas, Dead Prez, Wilco, Zap Mama, Cody Chestnut, Martin Luther, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Mos Def, and Talib Kweli. Maimouna has also rocked the stages of many renowned venues such as Denver Colorado‘s Red Rocks Amphitheater, New York City’s Radio City Music Hall, Switzerland’s Moniteau Jazz Festival, and The Carter Baron Amphitheater in Washington, DC.
