Steel Magnolias Opens 2011-2012 Season for Pearland Theatre Guild

Sept. 18, 2011 - PRLog -- September 18, 2011 -- The Pearland Theatre Guild is pleased to present the first production of its 2011-2012 season of shows, the funny and moving, STEEL MAGNOLIAS., written by Robert Harling. Performance dates are October 7 through October 30. No show on October 9. All performances will take place at the Earnest Holley Memorial Theater located at 326 Fellows Road, Houston, TX 77047.

"There's no such thing as natural beauty," says Truvy, the owner of the beauty shop in which the action is set. Taking place in Chinquapin, Louisiana, STEEL MAGNOLIAS illustrates how the lives of six distinctly different women interweave via the small town gossip that shadows the unending cycle of birth, marriage and death. Filled with hilarious Southern repartee and humorously revealing verbal collisions, the play draws on the town’s underlying strength—and love—which gives the play, and its characters, the special quality to make them truly touching, funny and marvelously amiable company in good times and in bad.
