By: Milton Reid Just as in every other election, the Democrat Party, this time with Obama as its head, once again moved black issues to “the back of the bus” as the Party went about addressing the Party’s interest which were not those of the black community. The sad reality is that this should not have come as a surprise to anyone even with Obama heading the ticket. One thing is for certain, in order for Obama to win re-election, he will have to have the black vote and it will have to be in the numbers seen in the 2008 election. Generating enough excitement and action by blacks will be a bit more difficult this time around for any number of reasons not the least of which is the growing dissatisfaction of blacks with Obama’s performance on black issues. With large black unemployment levels and growing levels of poverty in the black community, blacks are beginning to question not just Obama’s ability to make good on his promises but his commitment to fulfilling his promises.
