A native of Colonial Woods Missionary Church in Port Huron, MI, Matt Woodburn and his wife Katie are planters of VOX Church. Matt received his undergraduate degree in Christian Ministries at Bethel College (Mishawaka, IN). While serving as a Student Ministries Pastor in the Dayton, OH. area, he received his Master’s degree in Christian Ministries, also from Bethel College.Early in 2008, God specifically called the Woodburns to plant a church. In a huge step of faith, the couple resigned from their positions and embarked on the first steps of their planting journey. They were assessed as church planters by a group called Growing Healthy Churches (GHC) and have spent a year of learning the ins and outs of church planting through time serving at Evident Church (Macomb, MI). They have also spent time alongside other planting organizations and have a clear vision for what God has called them to do: Plant a disciple making church whose mission is to overcome religion through Christ centered relationships, resulting in changed lives!
Jonathan Seller was born and raised in a little town in Brigden Ontario, Canada. After feeling God's call into ministry at a young age, Jonathan went off to Moody Bible Institute to study Theology. After completing his BA in Bible/Theology, Jonathan began working at Colonial Woods Missionary Church in Port Huron, MI while completing his MA of Ministry at Bethel College. He served as Worship Leader and College Pastor for 3 years until he heard word that Colonial Woods was wanting to plant a Church in the Chesterfield area.
Jonathan and Matt had been good friends since high school and so the decision to plant alongside his friend in an area that desperately needed a solid Bible Preaching, Christ-Centered Church was obvious. Jonathan now serves on staff full-time as VOX's Pastor of the Gatherings. Though Jonathan is gifted musically and loves leading worship, he also will be preaching alongside Matt for many of our weekly worship services. Jonathan's passionate direct way of communicating whether it is through leading worship or preaching is refreshing to say the least. VOX CHURCH is blessed to have such a dynamic communicator who truly loves Jesus and His Church!
