Androscoggin Bank Encourages Local Youth Organizations to Apply for MainStreet Foundation Grant

PRLog (Press Release) - Sep. 16, 2011 - LEWISTON, Maine – Androscoggin Bank today announced that the Bank is now accepting applications for MainStreet Foundation grants. In accordance with the Bank’s legacy of serving as a financial partner and resource to the community in Maine and New England, MainStreet Foundation grants are provided for local organizations that support the projects, programs and initiatives that foster the development of and ensure the welfare of at-risk youth. Annually, the MainStreet Foundation awards five Impact Grants, which total approximately $25,000 and ten Seed Grants which total approximately $5,000.

The MainStreet Foundation’s Board will seek applicants from local organizations that provide direct service to at-risk youth including, but not limited to:
•   After-school and mentoring programs
•   Leadership development experiences of all types
•   Promoting literacy and a love of learning
•   Coping with homelessness and family discord
•   Promoting mental health and developing effective change and coping mechanisms
•   Learning life-management skills – learning about earning, saving, budgeting money, and spending money

To be eligible, organizations must provide proof of 501(c) 3 status under the IRS tax codes and have filed a form 990 with the IRS within the last calendar year. Applicants must demonstrate how the requested funds will support efforts that will deliver measurable outcomes with sustainable long-term benefits for at-risk youth.

Grant applications are reviewed three times a year, in February, May and November. To be considered in the current review cycle, applications must be received by email or mail by October 15. Applications received after this date must reapply for the next round of reviews.
