Piercing Performance Test of Antibiotics Vial’s Rubber Closure

Sept. 16, 2011 - PRLog -- Antibiotics vial's rubber closures, owing to their excellent sealing and chemical-proofing performance, are the only direct contact rubber closures applied in sealing of glass vials in medical packaging. With the popularization of infusion bags, rubber closure has been more widely used (rubber closures have found wider application).The piercing performance of the rubber closures, including piercing force and fragmentation, etc., has been clearly regulated in YBB00042002 issued by State Food & Drug Administration (SFDA) in 2002.

Labthink MED-01X Medical Packaging Tester specializes in the piercing force evaluation of rubber closures of antibiotics vials. It can precisely measure the force value needed to pierce through the rubber closures. Its testing method is as follows: install the penetrator onto the piercing device so that the central position of the vial closure can be vertically pierced. The speed of the penetration is 200±50mm/min, and the tester would record the piercing force on to the closure.
