Sept. 15, 2011 - PRLog -- People told us that we did not know enough about the construction business to found a company based on building.

When we founded American Development Company we were still a little wet behind the ears.  I myself had not been out of college long, and people told us that we did not know enough about the construction business to found a company based on building.  Like many times happens when trying something new, there were a lot of naysayers.  

We have, in fact, succeeded.  The technical expertise that we lacked, we were able to find through contracting architects and engineers who brought vast experience with them.  We today boast the most experienced, well educated construction team in the entire Yucatan Peninsula.  

But what we quickly found was building a successful project is less about technical experience and more about paying attention to the wants and needs of the clients.  We believe that the success we have found has come from the company’s core set of principles that have stuck with us from the beginning:

1.   The first one sounds so simple, but it is overlooked so many times.  Listen to our customers.  The vast majority of the projects we have done have been to Americans and Canadians in Mexico.  We sit down and talk to them in their native language.  By understanding what they say, we can deliver the product they want.  
2.   Be honest.  If the client is going down a path that is going to be very expensive, or not work, tell them up front.  The best way to make a good decision is to be well informed.  We pass all of our knowledge on to the decision maker.
3.   Say what you are going to do, then do it.  Again, sounds so simple but there are so many moving parts to a construction site that things can get very complicated.  Simple, if you say you are going to do it, you follow through.

Steadfast determination to these rules have served us well.  Nearly all of our business comes from repeats and referrals these days, and we have tons of references to jobs we have completed on time and on budget.
