Michigan Ave., on Friday, Sept. 23rd.  This is important to know because nearly 10 percent of Americans celebrate Thanksgiving Day at a restaurant and seats are coveted.  Each year, Executive Chef Patrick Sheerin creates a feast that draws numerous families and friends to this popular ‘hybrid’ dining experience that is served over 1,000 feet above The Magnificent Mile.  Combining the ease of a lavish starter and sweets buffet with the comfortable formality of individual plated main courses and family style side dishes, this Thanksgiving Day feast is an elegantly sophisticated holiday dining event.  Served from 11 a.m. – 8 p.m., the holiday event includes live musical entertainment for a festive note.  

The holiday meal begins with a visit to the grand buffet filled with mouthwatering starters, including chilled shrimp, king crab legs and freshly shucked oysters, American freshwater caviar, shaved root vegetable salad, lime pickled red onions, toasted almond vinaigrette; pumpkin bisque, and a selection of American cheeses and chutneys.

Once guests are seated and ready for the next course, each chooses from generous entrée selections.  A traditionally favorite entrée includes Chef Sheerin’s slow roasted turkey featuring smoked dark meat with shaved broccoli and cauliflower, and served with mushroom gravy.  Meat lovers can also choose the braised veal shank served with roasted root vegetables, roasted garlic and a white wine jus.  Fresh seafood takes center stage with the seared sea scallops served with saffron pearl pasta and baby fennel, complemented with a basil pistou.  Those seeking a vegetarian option can enjoy the spice crusted tofu with braised greens, curried fingerling potatoes accented with pickled pineapple.

Family-style side dishes delivered to each table pair perfectly with the entrees and include whipped market sweet potatoes with a pecan crumble; crispy Brussels sprouts with dill, lemon and capers; and traditional sausage stuffing.

To top it all off, an enticing sweets buffet includes a Mutsu apple and frangipane tart ; classic pumpkin pie with whipped cream; white and dark chocolate mousse cake; spiced elephant ears; pecan pie squares; red wine poached pears and cinnamon; and many more delicious temptations.

Leftovers are part of the fun. Each table can take home freshly carved turkey to gobble up the next day.
