By: japan Summit New York, Inc. / Mar Creation, Inc. J-Summit New York is a monthly concert series that introduces audiences to exciting bands of all genres. In addition to this month’s acts, j-Summit has invited internationally recognized music producer Daisuke Hinata from L.A. to join us as our special guest. We will search for new artists with Mr. Hinata as we continue to present monthly concerts. As an artist and composer for the band Interiors on the Windham Hill label, Hinata earned a Grammy nomination in 1987. He went on to produce three albums for Japanese superstar Tetsuya Komuro. Hinata has also produced the scores to numerous commercials for Honda, Toyota, Hitachi, Kirin, and General Foods as well as the soundtracks to the Japanese soap operas "The Long Vacation" and "Love Generation," Daisuke Hinata’s music career spans oceans and continents as well as cultures, genres, academia and music styles with numerous awards, including a Grammy Nomination along with millions of records sold as a Producer and Artist. www.daisukehinata.com www.hyperdisc.com We are pleased to have Mr. Hinata as our special guest. He and the rest of our j-Summit audience will see this talented lineup of performers: • Tomiya from Japan Dividing time between Tokyo and Brooklyn, Japanese singer Tomiya adds bouncy pop vocals to driving rock riffs. • Robin's Egg Blue Formed by singer Atsumi Ishibashi and guitarist Masashi Ishiura in 2009, Robin’s Egg Blue is a New York-based alternative band influenced by traditional Japanese soul. They recently released their first EP, Songbird. • Janita A native of Finland who moved to Brooklyn at the age of 17, Janita has smoky vocals that blend beautifully with her alternative sound. • NOW Now has been performing since age 15. She sings rock, soul, and gospel with a powerful voice. • Miki Yoshitake Miki Yoshitake is a jazz and bossa nova singer whose silky-smooth voice engages the audience. • Masashige Nakano The founder of the Japanese groups GUNSHY and SUN, Masahige Nakano released chart-topping records and toured all over Japan. The classically trained vocalist moved to New York this year, where he sings opera and original songs. Since the March 11 earthquake and tsunami in Japan, we have made an effort at j-Summit New York to aid in relief efforts. Once again we will have a donation box available for donations. All donations and partial proceeds from the event will go to the Consulate General of Japan in New York. Attendees can reserve advance tickets by joining the j-Summit New York Facebook page and sending an e-mail with their full names to info@jsummitny.com to be added to the mailing list.
