Rural Business Owners – Protect your Assets - Free Seminar

A free seminar is being held to inform rural business owners of ways to protect their assets and best take advantage of agricultural and business property relief.

Sept. 15, 2011 - PRLog -- Rural business owners are invited to a free seminar being given by two leading Cornish firms whose specialised services complement each other.  James Bailey of Robinson Reed Layton and Jane Barlow of JB Wills will be giving short presentations at the seminar taking place at the Carbis Bay Hotel, St Ives at 2.30pm on 18th October.

‘Reaping the Benefits of Asset Protection, Agricultural and Business Property Relief’ is the title of this afternoon seminar aimed at giving helpful information to those who own and manage rural businesses.

James Bailey will give a presentation on agricultural and business property relief.  Jane Barlow’s presentation will concentrate on asset protection and Wills.  She will explain how, in these difficult financial times, you can protect your hard-earned assets using a professionally drawn Will, Lifetime Trusts and Powers of Attorney.  Jane is a Member of Solicitors for the Elderly and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners specialising in asset protection, tax and estate planning.

James said, "the reliefs from inheritance tax for both business property and agricultural property are vital to ensure a business can be passed on to the next generation with the minimum tax cost, but too often it is taken for granted they will be available when in fact HMRC will be able to use technicalities to refuse to allow relief. I shall be pointing out some common problems and what to do about them, and also suggesting ways to arrange things to ensure that the maximum possible relief from tax is available".

The event will last for approximately an hour and a half and there will be tea, coffee and cakes available.

Places are limited so to confirm your booking, please contact Nick Skerratt at Robinson Reed Layton on 01872 276116 or nick.skerratt@rrl-truro.co.uk.
