Ms. Belleza Latina International Announces Charitable Initiatives to Benefit Youth

Sept. 14, 2011 - PRLog -- Washington DC - Ms. Belleza Latina International 2012, Yuliza Encarnación, introduces the first humanitarian campaign of her reign directed at improving the lives of numerous young people and their families in her native Dominican Republic. For many of the programs and events, she will be working with Los Ninos de Maria, Inc., a non-profit organization that has been working to improve the well being of poverty-stricken children and their families in the areas of health, education, and social welfare.

Yuliza has worked with the organization to raise school supplies for more than 8,000 children - personally collecting book bags, school supplies, can food clothing and funds. As Ms. Belleza Latina International, she will continue working with the organization to raise awareness as well encourage other Latino artists, activists and pageant titleholders to contribute to the organization's mission financially and by collecting items.

From September 12 through October 30, Ms. Belleza Latina International and Los Ninos de Maria will conduct a toy drive that will benefit hundreds of children in her home town of Las Matas de Farfan, Dominican Republic.. With a goal of collecting more than 20 boxes of toys as well as $20,000 to cover related expenses, additional special events will be organized to raise funds, garner community and national support as well as bring awareness to this humanitarian effort.  

Two proposed events include hosting the Washington Metropolitan area’s first ever “Latin Restaurant Week” and a holiday benefit concert featuring national and local Latin recording artists.  During Latin Restaurant Week, participating restaurants will offer special discounts to patrons who make financial or item contributions to benefit Los Ninos de Maria.

In addition to serving as the spokesperson for Los Ninos de Mario, Yuliza, the current host of “DC Contigo”, which is broadcast Saturday mornings on Univision Washington, is also studying mass-media communications at the University of the District of Columbia.   This past August, the pageant newcomer. wife and mother of a 7-year old son wowed the audience and judges to win the crown in Chicago, Illinois at the North Shore Theatre for the Performing Arts.  Entering the pageant with hopes of realizing a childhood dream, she was ultimately rewarded the Fashion Wear, Photogenic and Evening Gown awards within her division.  A native of the Dominican Republic, she relocated to the Washington, DC two year ago and is honored to represent Latinas worldwide.
