By: Frank Pagani Iona College 715 North Avenue New Rochelle, NY 10801 Phone: 914.637.2726 Email: “Journey of the Universe” Film To Have Its Westchester Premier at Special Iona College Event, September 21 Noted Religion Lecturer Dr. Mary Evelyn Tucker To Present the Film New Rochelle, NY (September 2011) “Journey of the Universe,” a film about the cosmic, earth and human transformation, will have its Westchester premier at a special event to be hosted by the Thomas Berry Forum for Ecological Dialogue at Iona College at 7:30 PM, Wednesday, September 21. Sponsored by the Iona Spirituality Institute, the event will be held at the college’s Ryan Library (Romita Auditorium), 715 North Avenue, New Rochelle. The film will be presented by one of its producers and writers, Dr. Mary Evelyn Tucker, Senior Lecturer in Religion and the Environment at Yale University. She co-produced “Journey of the Universe” with Dr. Brian Swimme. Author of many books on theology and ecology, Dr. Tucker is also a Research Scholar in the Divinity School, the School of Forestry and Environmental Studies and the Department of Religious Studies at Yale. With John Grim, she co-founded the Forum on Religion and Ecology (FORE). Drs. Tucker and Grim also coordinated a 10-conference series on World Religions and Ecology at Harvard's Center for the Study of World Religions. Tucker has been a committee member of the Interfaith Partnership for the Environment at the United Nations Environment Programme since 1986 and is vice president of the American Teilhard Association. Admission is free for Iona students and faculty but reservations are required by calling (914) 633-2233. There is a suggested admission charge of $5 for guests.
