Vanessa Marcil Giovinazzo, Richard Lawson and Tom Bergeron Honor Suzanne Whang at Hollywood Benefit

Suzanne Whang was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006.  In April of this year, she came out of the closet publicly with her diagnosis of stage IV breast cancer, and began to openly talk about the impact of her five year continuing journey with the disease.

"More than 50% of all bankruptcies in this country are caused by medical bills, and more than 75% of those people had health insurance when they first got sick.  While this fundraiser is not a political event, I am an activist, and I think it is astounding that the U.S. is the only first world nation to have no comprehensive health care program.  We pay a premium to receive any medical treatment and therefore we, as a nation, seek preventative health care far less frequently, which maximizes the impact of disease and injury.  When it comes to breast cancer, this insane approach to funding medical treatment destroys many lives.  In addition to motivating people to educate themselves about breast cancer, I want to highlight the importance of a new rational health care system in this nation, one that includes coverage of eastern medicine and alternative holistic treatments, which have contributed to the miraculous recovery of my chesticles.  Laughter has helped too, so I'm thrilled that the fundraiser will include performances and speeches by some of the funniest people I know."

The fundraiser starts at 6PM with a cocktail reception followed by a 7:00-9:30pm howand a 9:30-12:00am after party. The Los Angeles location for the event will be revealed after ticket purchase.
