"The View From Here" Art Show Opening and Reception

"The View from Here" will showcase some of the best photographers in San Antonio, Texas. The opening reception will take place on Thursday September 22 from 7 through 10 pm.
 
Sept. 14, 2011 - PRLog -- The photography group exhibition "The View from Here" will feature some of the best photographers in San Antonio, Texas. A wide variety of styles and very accomplished artists that offers something for every taste.

Come join us to meet the artists and hear about their work.
The exhibition will run through October 8.

Artists Participating:

JOHN DYER As a professional photographer has worked with Time Magazine, Newsweek, Elle, Fortune, Business, Money, Texas Monthly, Mas, LA Magazine and Travel & Leisure. John’s work has been selected for publication in American Photography, Print Magazine (Certificate of Design Excellence), Communications Arts Photography Annual, Graphis Photo, Flash Magazine (Creative Excellence Award) and HOW Magazine (Self-Promotion Award).

DEBORAH KELLER-RIHN maintains an active, eclectic art space studio at the Blue Star Arts Complex in which she creates her own artwork, mentors the work of young artists and organizes monthly art shows for emerging artists. Her work is in the permanent collections of UTSA and the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center as well as in many private collections.

RICK KRONINGER winner of the 1998 Ucross Residency Communication Arts Award of Excellence, National ADDY, San Antonio ADDY, San Antonio Advertising Award, Federation Merit, the Society of Illustrators, Dimensional Bronze Award, and the RX Club Award of Excellence.

MARIE LANGMORE , daughter of  Bank Langmore the preeminent photographer of the American West whose book, “The Cowboy,” is considered one of the seminal bodies of work on the subject, is the owner of a fine photography studio in San Antonio, Texas. Currently, Marie works with Haven for Hope, she says:  It has been a blessing for me to be a part of this incredible community of people and has reminded me why I became a photographer in the first place.” All of Marie's proceeds on this exhibition will be donated to Haven for Hope.

ROBERT MAXHAM graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, where his studies included fine art and film-making. A former ad agency creative executive he has operated a professional photo studio downtown for over three decades, specializing in media work and winning many awards. He is currently an active trustee of the Blue Star Art Space, and an honorary trustee of the Southwest School of Art.

MICHAEL NYE has two photography/audio exhibitions traveling around the country :“Fine Line, Mental Health/Mental Illness” and “About Hunger & Resilience”. He is currently working on a new long term documentary “Thinking about Seeing”.

LEE OUTZ Freelance Photographer currently working and living in San Antonio. His work has been published by the Associated Press, UPI, Newsweek, USA Today as well as others. Lee Outz is a photographer for the San Antonio Express-News. He has won numerous awards from the Associated Press, Texas Photographic Society and the Texas Press Association.

LIBBY ROWE holds a Master of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Photography from Syracuse University and a Bachelor of Fine
Arts in Photography from University of Northern Iowa. Rowe has exhibited her work nationally and internationally on places such as New York, Seattle, Philadelphia, Netherlands, and Poland. Rowe is an Assistant Professor of Art and head of photography at University of Texas at San Antonio and serves as Chair of the South Central region of the Society for Photographic Education.

MELANIE RUSH-DAVIS was recently invited by The Texas Nature Conservancy to participate in their photographic exhibition, The Last Great Places of Texas. Her work is published on a regular basis in the Pinhole Journal.  With an MFA from the University of Texas at San Antonio her specialties include view camera work, digital imaging, alternative processes, and custom black and white printing. She teaches at many prestigious institutions throughout Texas.

RAMIN SAMANDARI Born in 1960 in Tehran, Ramin Samandari emigrated from Iran to the United States in 1978 and made his home in San Antonio, Texas. Samandari teaches photography at the Southwest School of Art and owns Magical Realism Studio, located in the Blue Star Art Complex in San Antonio, Texas.

ANSEN SEALE received a BA in Journalism, Broadcasting and Film and Studio Art from Trinity University in San Antonio, 1983. Seale works with a special digital panoramic camera of his own invention. His photographs can be seen at the Lila Cockrell Theater and San Antonio International Airport. His photographs have been exhibited in museums and galleries and have been collected by corporations and institutional and private collectors. Ansen Seale has also had exhibitions in Argentina, Amsterdam and Spain.

TRISH SIMONITE teaches photography at Trinity University, San Antonio. Her work has been exhibited in the U.S.A. and in Europe, has been published in books and magazines and is in private and public collections. Her work in Honky Tonk, at the Bluecoat Gallery, Liverpool, U.K.

ANDREW WATSON grew up in San Antonio, Texas and attended The University of Texas at San Antonio where he received a BFA in photography. After living in Portland, Oregon for 5 years, Watson moved back to San Antonio in 2004 and continues to evolve his photographic imagery in both fine art and commercial form while also feeding his love of design working for a local creative firm as a graphic designer.
