Jinny Software Partners with Velleros to Deliver Emergency Alerts via Cell Phones

Partnership will enable implementation of the government-initiated Commercial Mobile Alert System (CMAS) and will open up opportunities for commercial broadcasting across North America’s rural areas

Sept. 14, 2011 - PRLog -- DUBLIN, September  14, 2011- Jinny Software, a leading global supplier of messaging, call completion and mobile advertising solutions to wireless carriers, today announces a partnership agreement with software applications provider Velleros to execute the CMAS program for rural carriers in North America using Jinny’s cell broadcast solution.

In accordance with the regulations adopted by the FCC, CMAS will support the location-based broadcast of three types of emergency message:
•   Presidential alerts: top-priority messages issued by the U.S. President to identify local, regional or national emergencies.
•   Imminent-threat alerts notifying of emergency conditions, such as hurricanes or tornadoes, where individuals should take immediate action.
•   AMBER alerts: relating to missing or endangered children in abduction or runaway situations.

Velleros is working with the US Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology and FEMA to supply carriers with CMAS solutions that have both mission-critical reliability and commercial viability. “After performing due diligence on platform vendors, we made the decision to partner with Jinny Software. The scalable and modular architecture of the Jinny VAS Platform makes it the ideal cell broadcast module for our total solution,” says Danny Parker, Velleros CEO. The CMAS solution and other value-added applications can be offered in either standalone or hosted configurations to facilitate delivery of emergency alerts to consumers’ wireless phones – wherever they are.

Total solution for both emergency and commercial use

Although the potentially life-saving CMAS initiative is the driver for this project, the same infrastructure can be used to deliver innovative and personalised commercial broadcasts. The Velleros Aggregation and Syndication Technology (VAST™) solution enables carriers to leverage the platform for additional commercial applications that deliver personalized “hyper-local” internet-based services to their subscribers, as aggregated from a variety of sources, and delivered to any network connected device.  By more seamlessly integrating the subscriber with many available sources of rich web content, the carrier delivers a suite of innovative personalized services that incorporate the subscriber’s content of interest while also enabling new contextual marketing and advertising based business model revenues

Market-leading mobile messaging infrastructure

Jinny’s platform for delivering this content is widely accepted as best in class in the mobile technology industry, having received the Frost & Sullivan Global Mobile Messaging Infrastructure Competitive Strategy Innovation Award for 2011. All Jinny solutions are fully scalable and support server virtualization, reducing the labor required to manage hardware as well as power and space requirements. The Jinny Standard Platform makes migration to next-generation services and networks easier, and without requiring carriers to write off existing investments. Jinny’s messaging solutions, designed to open standards, have been exhaustively tested in commercial deployments around the world.

“We are very pleased to be working with Velleros on this mission-critical initiative,” says Richard Choi, Jinny Chief Commercial Officer. “We are committed to providing our rural carrier customers with systems that are reliable, scalable, secure and innovative, and this partnership reinforces our strategy.”
