Local REALTOR® Completes CRS Chapter Leadership Training

Sept. 14, 2011 - PRLog -- Shirley Matlock, CRS with RE/MAX Advantage Realty was one of 105 CRS chapter leaders, regional vice presidents and national officers who participated in the annual CRS Chapter Leadership Training Program, sponsored by the Council of Residential Specialists in Scottsdale, Ariz., Aug. 26 – 27, 2011. CRS Designees who attended the two-day event took part in sessions focused on strategic planning, providing chapter value and benefits, working with diverse personalities and building team performance, as well as in-depth training covering many aspects of Chapter administration and management.

Since 1991, Shirley has been practicing real estate in the Baltimore Metropolitan communities. She has extensive experience in residential sales that includes working with 1st time homebuyers, relocating buyers and sellers, and working with mature adults in selling their homes and moving to age-related accommodations and communities. Her credentials include: Accredited Buyer Representative, Accredited Staging Professional, Certified Residential Specialist, Graduate Realtor Institute, Professional Management Network, Short Sale Foreclosure Resource, Senior Real Estate Specialist, and working with Diversity. Shirley is currently a Regional Vice President for the Council of Residential Specialist and works with the leadership chapters of Alabama, N.Alabama, N.Florida and Georgia.

The annual Chapter Leadership Training Program prepares incoming CRS Chapter presidents and officers for the challenges and demands of their leadership positions, while giving them the confidence they need to do the job well. Brian Copeland, CRS, of Village Real Estate Services (www.NashvilleAndBeyond.com) in Nashville, Tenn., facilitated the sessions on the first day of the program. Copeland has been a featured speaker at many national and chapter events for the Council as well as the National Association of REALTORS® Young Professional Network. In his training sessions he discussed the importance of using social media in their marketing efforts and offered suggestions on how to use it more effectively. By adding social media to their existing marketing plans and creating new strategies, chapter leaders can provide better value to their members and create larger, more engaging online communities for the Council, both locally and nationally.

Shirley comments “These meetings brought together the top 1% of the 3% of the top Realtors in the country to network and learn the intracacies of the Council and Chapter organizations. It was a great 2-day work event and will continue in November.”

The annual event is a great opportunity for incoming CRS leaders to prepare for the responsibilities and roles they will assume as chapter executives. “This event does a tremendous job of building and strengthening the group who will become very close during their year as 2012 chapter presidents and regional vice presidents, sharing ideas and partnering in local events and CRS courses,” said Rachel Tristano, the Council’s director of chapter and regional programs, who organized and managed the event. “This event helps participants build key relationships that will serve them well as they work together next year as a cohesive leadership team.”
