The survey, carried out by Irish wedding website, WeddingsIreland.com (http://www.weddingsireland.com), found that over 94% of those surveyed answered ‘No’ when asked the question “Have you ever stayed in a bad relationship for the sole reason of not being single at Christmas?”
Only 6% admitted to staying in bad relationships solely to have a ‘significant other’ during the Christmas period, opting for Yuletide misery over holiday season singledom.
Commenting on the findings, Karl Hussey, relationship manager at WeddingsIreland.com said:
“Clearly these results show that Irish singles are happy to throw off the shackles of a bad relationship over the Christmas period, and leave the door open for some holiday season romance.”
“The holiday season is a happy time for the majority of relationships, with the busiest day of the year for WeddingsIreland.com being the 1st of January, when an influx of excited brides check out their wedding planning options after saying ‘Yes’ to New Years Eve proposals. With any luck, this year’s singles will be next year’s new engagements.”
