Sept. 14, 2011 - PRLog -- What is a Sales Page on a Website?

Since the advent of the World Wide Web, two things have been critical to getting ones message across to others be it political, social, or economic: where you rank in the search engine results for the key words used and how well your landing page grabs the attention of the visitor.

To get them to your landing page is one thing, to get them to go to the next level and "click-for-additional-content," well that's even more difficult. As hard as it is to get someone to visit your content, to lose them quickly because your landing page looks amateurish and unprofessional is simply a missed opportunity.

Sales Pages over the Traditional Website Homepage

Web innovators have started to take a different approach to the traditional website that contains page after page of content, and one of these methods is to create a single shot "Sales Page" that contains all of the information needed for a person to make a "yea or nay" decision. Although predominately used by firms that are focusing on selling a product or service, these sale pages can also be used to solicit political or charitable contributions.

Different from a squeeze page that is intended to capture email addresses for future marketing purposes, a sales page is designed to drive the sale with convincing marketing content, all necessary information that the consumer needs to make a buying decision...and most importantly

A Sales Page provides access to a fast and safe way of finalizing the sale.

One must look at the significant advantages that the web has over traditional advertising methods such as television, radio, newspapers, magazines, mail advertisements, etc. The web offers the one thing these others don't and that is a very fast, efficient, and easy way to go from "now that we have your attention" to "this is what you need to do to purchase!" You don't have to drive to the store or make a phone call. All you need to do is click on a button and you are on your way to completing the sale.

There are a few concerns with today's online transactions methods of which two of the biggest to overcome are whether your site is secure and if your are trustworthy:

   * Security

With identity theft a major concern with people in today's internet environment many are very reluctant to "take that next step" and cough-up detailed information that in the wrong hands can be easily turned against them. The are going to want to know that any connection for the transaction screen is secure and fully encrypted so that they know that their data cannot be lifted by someone eavesdropping in on the transaction The sales page should spell this out explicitly.

   * That the firm is trustworthy

It is difficult to prove to a new customer that you are not going to sell their email address to spammers or use their credit card information for unauthorized purchases or for adding "invisible" charges for the transaction. They may also be concerned that you will deliver the product, that the product will be "as claimed", and that they will have recourse if they are dissatisfied. Testimonials are helpful to help convince a skeptical buyer, but under no circumstance should testimonials be fabricated.

The above information is but a small slice of what is available with the creation of a sales page, so one is advised to further research this exciting option. To learn more in detail how you can create effective sales pages for your website visit Kevin Stacey's website at the link below:
