German and Local Brews Set for 25th Annual Oktoberfest on October 1

The final list of breweries has been announced for the 25th Annual Oktoberfest Beer & Wine Tasting celebration, Saturday, October 1 at the Commemorative Air Force Museum at the Camarillo Airport (455 Aviation Dr.).

Sept. 13, 2011 - PRLog -- CAMARILLO, CALIF.--The final list of breweries has been announced for the 25th Annual Oktoberfest Beer & Wine Tasting celebration, Saturday, October 1 at the Commemorative Air Force Museum at the Camarillo Airport (455 Aviation Dr.).

   Over 20 different German beers will be available for tasting from Hacker-Pschorr, Hofbräuhaus Mänchen, Paulaner Munich Beer, Spaten and Weihenstephan. Each brewery will be bringing four or more brews to the event including seasonal Oktoberfest beers. Full descriptions of each beer variety are available at www.okto-beerfest.com.

   "We're offering one of the most extensive line-ups of imported German beers and wines in Southern California," says Mary-Catherine McBride, Oktoberfest chairperson for the event organizer, the Rotary Club of Thousand Oaks Sunrise. "It's a great opportunity to try them all."

   Local breweries participating in this year's Oktoberfest are Firemans Brew, Ventura's Surf Brewery, Enegren Brewing Company and Lagunitas Brewing Company. Vintner King Frosch.will be bringing almost 20 different German wines for tasting.

   To enhance the Oktoberfest experience, live German music and entertainment will be featured throughout the afternoon along with Bavarian Oktoberfest contests. German foods including bratwurst, sauerkraut and strudel will be available for purchase. Also featured will be "beer cocktails" and beer ice cream floats (root beer floats for non-drinkers).

   As part of admission, festivalgoers can tour the Commemorative Air Force Museum and its historic World War II airplanes and enjoy viewing vintage aircraft flyovers throughout the day.

   The cost is $40 for adults and includes all you can drink beer and wine and souvenir tasting mug, $10 for ages 13 through 20 and free for children under age 13. Adults not participating in beer tasting and are "designated drivers" get in for $10.

   Oktoberfest hours are 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Those who purchase tickets no later than September 16 can enjoy the festivities an hour earlier with admission at noon. Parking is free. Tickets can be purchased online at http://www.okto-beerfest.com.

   The Rotary Club of Thousand Oaks Sunrise promotes drinking responsibly. It has arranged for Roadrunner Shuttle Service (805-389-8196, www.rrshuttle.com) to be on call during Oktoberfest so that attendees have the option to use the service if needed.

Thousand Oaks Rotary Sunrise Club Oktoberfest includes live German music, dancers and Bavarian contests as well as R&B and jazz bands. More than 30 craft vendors display their wares. A full food court with Bavarian and other fare is featured.
