Sept. 13, 2011 - PRLog -- Marv Degerness was already hard at work on the morning of Sept. 11, 2001. When a co-worker interrupted to tell him a plane hit one of the World Trade Center towers. Marv watched on television as a plane tore a hole into the other tower. Planes had turned into missiles. The Pentagon. A field in Pennsylvania. Marv watched in disbelief.

“I went home and watched the news all day like everybody else,” said Marv, who is now the owner of the Glass Doctor of Fargo/Moorhead franchise. “It was an important day for Americans.”

Ten years later, Marv participated in another important day for Americans. He sang at “A Concert of Commemoration,” a memorial event commemorating the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks at the place of the greatest destruction, New York City. Marv is one of 40 members of The Master Chorale of Fargo-Moorhead who were invited to join the choir of 252 to sing René Clausen’s Memorial on Sept. 11, 2011. Clausen, who also conducted performance at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, composed the piece to honor the memory of those who lost their lives in the attacks.

“It was an honor to be a part of the memorial events,” said Marv, who’s been a member of the Chorale for 22 years. “It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The performance went very well. We were well received.”
