Sept. 13, 2011 - PRLog -- Today, Sep 13Th, 2011 Itamar Gelbman, a small business owner, officially announced that he is seeking the Republican Primary's nomination in the new Texas Congressional District 6.

This is a "David vs. Goliath"-like battle. Although Itamar doesn't resemble David, he's 6 foot 3 inches tall, has blond hair, and carries himself like a Texas Ranger. In this political fight he is "Young David", never having ran for office. He is fighting a real "Goliath", the long serving Congressman, Joe Barton.

Like many Texas citizens, Itamar is an adopted Texan. He was born in New York City and, at an early age, moved to Israel with his parents where he grew up. He is a third generation descendant of holocaust survivors.

Itamar started his Bachelor studies in Computer Science and Business Management when he was only 16 years old. At the same time he joined the Israel Police Department as a Reserve Police Officer, and became the most decorated Reserve Police Officer in the Israeli Police Dept.

Itamar joined the Israel Defense Force at the age of 18 where he served as a Lieutenant in the Army Special Forces. In this role, he took part in and planned dozens of dangerous missions. He received many awards and accommodations from high ranking military officers, including the Israeli Chief of Staff and the Israeli Prime Minister. During these missions, Itamar was less than 100 yards from 2 suicide bomb attacks, was shot at repeatedly, and apprehended dozens of terrorists and criminals.

Itamar moved back to the United States eight years ago and started a personal security firm. He was hired to protect A list celebrities and high profile executives. He also owns and operates a real estate investment and management firm.

Itamar is taking on a big challenge by running against an incumbent of 27 years with a 1.3 million dollar war-chest (according to the FEC website). But don’t get him wrong, Itamar has stood up to bigger challenges before and not lost. He has a great record of accomplishments in law enforcement, military, and business. In the personal competitive arena he has earned a black belt in Krav Maga (The Israeli Martial Arts), won awards in shooting competitions, and a bronze medal in the 2011 Police and Fire Games.

Itamar’s goals for his fellow Texans are in perfect alignment with his background. He will make a unique addition to our Washington team—based on his many years of experience in border security and creating jobs. He will make sure our relationship with our best ally, Israel, will be as solid as it used to be.
