Teen Actress Laci Kay Stars In "Olivia" To Screen At Warner Bros.

Sept. 13, 2011 - PRLog -- Laci Kay plays Olivia in the short film by New York Film Academy MFA student writer/director Ana Garcia Abad. Written and directed by Abad this is Abad's second film past her first "Sinestesia" and first short under Coliro Films Production Company.

"Olivia" is a fantasy about a 13 year old narcoleptic girl who gets constant bullying from her classmates due to her condition.  She falls asleep everywhere and cannot control it.  Kids are cruel, especially Erika who really enjoys making Olivia's life miserable and so Olivia wishes bad things onto Erika.  Olivia will learn that she has a power; she can enter into other people's dreams.  Erika has an accident and Olivia who is driven by the guilt of her earlier wishes has a new mission.  She must enter into Erika's coma and try to wake her up.

The film is what Abad calls "an experimental examination of the disorder of narcolepsy". Originally from Spain, Ana earned a bachelors in Communication from a Spanish University and is seeking an MFA at New York Film Academy, this is her thesis project. Her purpose in making this film is to demonstrate with sympathy the disorder of narcolepsy.

For the ballet scenes Laci Kay underwent four days of dance training. "Olivia" had a budget of 25k and shot in 8 days in 6 locations.

"Olivia" will have it's rough cut screening with a group of films from New York Film Academy students on Friday, September 16, 2011 from 7:30-10pm at Warner Bros. Screening Room 5 located at 4000 Warner Blvd. Burbank , CA 91522.  "Olivia" will have final sound, color and sound and is expected to be completed in November.

Laci Kay Biography: Born in Tyler Texas and the youngest of four children, Laci has been performing since she was in the first grade.  A move to California lead to an introduction to talent agent Jeremy Apody from Abrams Artists Youth Commercial Division.  Also a talented singer not unlike Christina Aguilera who she met while working on the set of the music video for "Hurt" cast as the young Christina.  Laci recently had a supportive role in the 2010 feature film "Barracuda" which was nominated for Best Feature Film, Best Editing and Best Picture at the Burbank International Film Festival.  She has been interviewed by Lewis Marklin Mash for "ICON News" and appears in four episodes of the TV Series "Ms Vampy's Tween Tawk, Teen Tawk and In Between Tawk" with Brooke Lewis. She lives with her parents in Ventura, California.
