Sept. 13, 2011 - PRLog -- Japanese kimonos not only have told the story of a very vibrant Japanese culture, but also can infuse new breath into world fashion. Creating a bold fusion between the modern fashion and the classical kimono style is not an easy task, but Mode & Classic New York and a kimono fashion stylist / designer, Hiromi Asai are showing new fusion styles on the stage.

Kimono Fashion Show is held on the Opening Night (Eco- Friendly evening) of Brooklyn Fashion Weekend at 7:30PM on 29th September, 2011. The location of this show is Industry City at Bush Terminal (241 37th Street Brooklyn NY 11232).

Japan had an enormous earthquake / tsunami in March. A huge number people were killed or injured. Many people lost their dreams and futures. Brooklyn Fashion Weekend and Mode & Classic desire to encourage Japanese people to move up in the fashion field. So, this show is organized also for encouragement and support of Japanese people as well as the fund raising for earthquake / tsunami victims. All donations and proceeds for this show will benefit Japan earthquake / tsunami victims through Japan Society in New York.

Mode & Classic is founded by Hiromi Asai, a kimono wardrobe stylist and designer in 2010. Now Mode & Classic has been recognized as the Kimono professionals in the world. Their pieces have made their way in advertisements for Verizon Wireless, various fashion magazines and have even been featured with a designer Susan Cianciolo at the New York Fashion Week 2011 Autumn / Winter collections. Recently, the collaboration in the art filed was accomplished with an artist and photographer Laurie Simmons. Furthermore, Mode & Classic successfully produced kimono fashion shows at Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam and The Museum of World Culture in Gothenburg, Sweden in 2011. Mode & Classic strives to sublime the Japanese exquisite style to the global fashion arena.

Brooklyn Fashion Weekend presented by Brooklyn Style Foundation, a 501c3 non-profit, found in late 2004, has emerged as a powerful new showcase for fashion talent on the verge of stardom. To overcome the dearth of opportunity and the difficulty in breaking into the fashion business, Brooklyn Style Foundation provides various opportunities for designers, stylists and models to present their talents and works to ensure that they can make a living from the work they love.

Brooklyn (BK) Fashion Weekend 2012 Spring/Summer is scheduled from 29th September to 2nd October. HINAYA KYOTO and Mode & Classic LLC provide kimonos and obi sashes for this show.

The kimono is not a heritage. Kimono will be recognized as a universal formal wear that is beyond cultural and ethnic boundaries.
