Solar Innovations, Inc. was recently notified that their impact resistant fixed pyramid skylights and fixed side glazed skylights have been approved by the Texas Department of Insurance for use along the Texas Gulf Coast. To obtain this certification, the tested skylights were required to meet wind load tests instituted by the International Residential Code (IRC) and the International Housing Code (IHC), and sustain winds in excess of 130 mph.
The Texas Department of Insurance certifies Solar Innovations, Inc.’s impact resistant fixed pyramid skylights and fixed side glazed skylights to be acceptable for use in the Inland I and Seaward Zone of the Intracoastal Canal of the Designated Catastrophe Area when installed accordingly. Benefits of installing TDI certified skylights are it may reduce home insurance costs for customers, as well as provide adequate protection from weather that occurs along the coast.
TDI certification allows Solar Innovations, Inc. to provide certified skylights along the Texas Gulf Coast, allowing customers to enjoy a new option for bringing light into their homes and businesses. Skylights are used on roofs above living rooms, dining rooms, and bathrooms to allow natural overhead lighting. Several growing skylight placement trends are basement and garage inclusions. The addition of a skylight brings natural light into spaces that are typically illuminated only by artificial means, thus making these rooms more energy efficient. Other key skylight uses include rooflines to allow for plant growth, as well as pool and spa locations for year round use.
Beyond those approved by the TDI, Solar Innovations, Inc. has the ability to provide completely customizable skylights for any application, design requirement, or aesthetic need. Built on a never say no reputation; customization is the signature of Solar Innovations, Inc.’s skylights. Solar Innovations, Inc. can provide standard aluminum or ornate wood interiors including, but not limited to Ash, Bamboo, Cedar, Cherry, Douglas Fir, Mahogany, SVL, and Walnut. Claddings are also available in popular choices such as Copper, Lead Coated Copper, and Stainless Steel.
