Real-life “Tootsie” returns with Seattle’s most unusual comedy show

Sept. 13, 2011 - PRLog -- SEATTLE (September 12, 2011) Miss Anita Goodmann is a “real-life Tootsie” who has emerged from Seattle’s burgeoning burlesque scene to create a genre-defying comedy show combining satire, comedy, improv, drag, and burlesque into one hilarious and unpredictable hour.  The final results are edited into a “live in front of a studio audience” video show posted to the Internet at http://www.vimeo.com/user2325715/videos



The Anita Goodmann Experience will kick off its fifth season with a performance and live taping at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 13, 2011 at the Rendezvous Jewel Box Theater.   The Rendezvous is located at 2322 2nd Ave in Seattle’s Belltown Neighborhood. Tickets are $10 and available at the door.

The Anita Goodmann Experience takes the audience on a surrealistic romp through a world where the only rules are there are no rules. Free association, cartoon antics, gender bending, culture jamming, sampling, and pop culture lampoon are just the icing on this comedy tour-de-force.

This episode will feature Miss Anita Goodmann, Miss Cassie O’Hara of The Anita Goodmann Experience,  Kaleb Hagen-Kerr (Mr. Belltown 2011, Pastor Kaleb), Brendan Mack  (Stageright Productions Melancholy Play), Josh Hartvigson (Last seen as Dr. Frank N. Furter in Open Circle’s The Rocky Horror Show), and Renten (Amy Winehouse Impersonator), with Burlesque by Miss Babette La Fave of Internationally recognized burlesque troupe The Atomic Bombshells.

The October 13th show can be summarized TV Guide style as “Anita and Cassie introduce the new friends they met while winning contests at local Renaissance Faires this Summer and “swami” Gary Gloryhole performs a séance with unexpected results. Miss Anita Goodmann, is the brainchild of Timothy Thomas, a producer, writer, actor, and professional female impersonator who envisioned a character who “arrived in Seattle with a suitcase and an introduction letter.” Tim has spent his life being accepted as a convincing female, starting with fooling his own teachers at an elementary school Halloween party to his current career as a comedienne and transgender performer.   He is, in fact, a “real-life Tootsie” who openly appears around town in his female persona both as an entertainer and socialite while maintaining his professional and family life as a male.
