Sept. 11, 2011 - PRLog -- HDMI cables are extremely powerful audio/visual cables that are used to connect audio/visual devices, such as Blu-Ray players or certain seventh generation video gaming consoles, to televisions. You can find a large variety of HDMI cables in the market, some of them are outrageously expensive while others are less expensive. You may not be willing to pay a HDMI cable for more than $100, but how can distinguish between a high-quality HDMI cable and the low-quality one. Here we will give you some tips.

You should determine you needs, as there are two different variations of HDMI cables, standard HDMI and high-speed HDMI respectively. The standard HDMI cables, known as Category 1 HDMI, can deliver data at a speed of 76 MHZ. This is equal to a signal of 1080i. The high-speed HDMI cables, also known as Category 2 HDMI, deliver data at a speed of 340 MHZ. With high-spend HDMI cable, you can transfer the highest amount of bandwidth available. This is equal to a signal of 1080p signal. It is ideal for high-resolution display, specifically WQXGA monitors with resolutions of 2560x1600. While high-speed HDMI cables are capable of providing increased refresh rates and improved color depths, depending on the size of your monitor, you may not even be able to tell the difference. When each HDMI cable is attached to TV below 32 inches, the quality of picture will look the same to your naked eyes. However, the TV is with resolution higher than 32 inches, the picture effects difference will be obvious for your eyes to distinguish. So if you are going to buy a LCD monitor smaller than 32 inch, there is no necessary for you to shell out more money for a high-speed HDMI cable, as your TV set won’t be able to take advantage of the high-speed capabilities anyway.
A large variety of HDMI cables distributed in many stores are short. They are usually only 4 ft, shorter than you expect, however, there is equipment available that will allow you to make a longer HDMI cable. You just need to connect one end of your first HDMI cable(http://www.dragonext.com/1-4-hdmi-to-hdmi-vga-rca-compone...) to one of the port your HDMI connector, and then connect one end of the second HDMI cable to the other port on the HDMI connector. You now have an HDMI cable that is twice the length of the original cable. Now, you can test the cable for you HDTV.
