RealOptions Pregnancy Medical Clinic Offers New Abstinence Education For Teens In Santa Clara County

Sept. 12, 2011 - PRLog -- San Jose, California- RealOptions Pregnancy Medical Clinic is proud to offer an exciting student outreach program,“The Sexy Truth….Making Healthy Choices," with new Education Director, Renae Hobby. Its purpose is to educate on the importance of building satisfying and mature relationships free from sexually transmitted diseases, unwanted pregnancy, and heartache. Since graduating from college, Renae has spent the last six years in the non-profit sector and is passionate about encouraging teens to make healthy lifestyle decisions. Her program is specifically designed for junior high and high school students in Santa Clara County and is in compliance with California’s Comprehensive Sexual Health Education Program.

"RealOptions provides an outstanding presentation and overview of sexually transmitted diseases and their prevention.  Information is also presented on the emotional consequences of becoming sexually active.  Speakers and activities are engaging and able to make very effective connections with high school students.  The program has been of great value to the students at Branham High School," said Ron Smare, Health Teacher for Branham High School.

One student who heard a RealOptions presentation at her school explained, “So many people will warn you about the dangers of drugs or the evils of alcohol and the repercussions of smoking. Yet, warnings about one of the most destructive activities, sex outside of marriage, had not been told to us until RealOptions came to our school to speak. Thanks for caring about us and our future!” With 9.1 million new cases of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) occurring among those aged 15-24 each year in the U.S., this is a program that will help protect and guide our county’s youth.
