Sept. 9, 2011 - PRLog -- Newtown, PA (September 8, 2011) – Optellios, Inc., a developer and manufacturer of advanced fiber-optic sensing and security systems, has announced the completion of the integration of their FiberPatrol® perimeter intrusion detection sensor with NICE Situator the situation management software from NICE Systems for the Port of Virginia. With this enhanced capability the Port of Virginia will now be able to monitor the Fiber Patrol FP1100-X systems deployed across the 26,000 foot perimeter at the site through the NICE Situator user interface. The FiberPatrol® installation is part of a US Department of Homeland Security project designed to boost security at three state owned maritime facilities. George Zisk, Vice President of Operations for Optellios, comments, “We are very excited about this development because it not only demonstrates the benefit of the FiberPatrol® open architecture, but also highlights the importance of seamlessly integrating the multiple components of a security system into a common operating picture, made possible by NICE Situator’s open API.”  Ed Merkle, Virginia Port Authority’s Director of Port Security and Emergency Operations stated, “The Port of Virginia conducted an extensive search for the right technology for our emerging command and control center and while we found many solutions, NICE Situator and FiberPatrol® proved to be the best value in the market from a feature, functionality and ease of use perspective.”
