Don’t Be A Wallis With Betting Says Eskander

The AFL are doing a great job at maintaining the integrity of the game and bookmakers are providing them with the right support.

Sept. 8, 2011 - PRLog -- Following the AFL’s tough and appropriate reaction to the Heath Shaw and Nick Maxwell betting scandal leading bookmaker Alan Eskander was shocked with the revelation that Essendon Assistant coach Dean Wallis was also being investigated.

With Wallis now copping a heavy penalty he hopes the entire AFL community are now aware of the rules and the consequences of breaking them

Alan Eskander Opinion

“The Shaw and Maxwell case was on the front page of the papers for days, how anyone let alone an AFL assistant coach failed to get the message that the AFL are deadly serious about maintaining the integrity of the game is beyond me.

The cynics were speculating that the AFL were just using high profile players to set an example, but the Wallis case puts the writing on the wall for everyone involved in the AFL, it’s a pretty simple message - do not bet on AFL or you will cop it.

Wallis has come out today saying he was stupid, I second that notion and I wonder what further warning players, officials and coaching staff need.

The AFL are doing a great job at maintaining the integrity of the game and bookmakers are providing them with the right support and information, let’s hope there are no further indiscretions.”
