“The script was inspired by dozens of books in which people who had near-death experiences reported what they saw on the other side,” says Anka, “but we didn’t just want to do a dry documentary, we wanted characters to personalize the experiences;
Although the film has been shot and edited, Anka is seeking $30,000 to complete post-production work, which includes music, color correction, visual effects, marketing and distribution.
Anka explains: “Our investors have been very generous. We’re still a little short of what’s required to get us to the finish line." Anka is reaching out to film fans through Kickstarter.com, where they can support independent movies through donations of as little as $10. "We're hoping that enough people will go to the site, view a video clip and if they like what they see, make donations that will help us complete the film for distribution,"
While “Dearly Departed” is Zia Films’ first production, Anka is a 30-year veteran of the film industry, having worked in special effects, set design and created storyboards for such films as "Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan," "The Aviator," "Iron Man," "Live Free or Die Hard" and "Pirates of the Caribbean."
Anka has written a number of scripts including a script produced by Nu Image Entertainment and scripts optioned by AMI Productions and Mutual Film Company.
In addition, Anka has been a public speaker for the past 28 years and conducted international seminars on metaphysical concepts such as those presented in “Dearly Departed.”
“Our intention with this film,” says Anka, “is not only to shed light on what may possibly await us in the afterlife, but also to inspire people to live the lives they truly wish to live.”
