Meyer & Austin speak to Montgomery County Toastmasters Club

Sept. 8, 2011 - PRLog -- The Montgomery County Toastmasters Club of Hillsboro met at the Challacombe house on 9-6-11.  Fifteen members were present as was one first time guest: C.J. Dyas from Hillsboro.   Brenda Masters-Stout served as the Toastmaster or Master of Ceremonies.

The first speaker was one of the club's newest members, Ronda Meyer. Ronda delivered her 1st speech as a member of Toastmasters, which is referred to as an 'Icebreaker'.  The club got to learn about Ronda and her family with a very touching story about a race to the delivery room.  Ronda then spoke about being a mother of two young men who are currently attending medical school.  She also touched on the fact that she is now a proud grandmother as well.  

The second speaker was Dr. Todd Austin from Virden.  Austin recently entered a cold laser video testimonial contest put on by a laser manufacturing company known as Multi Radiance Medical.  Dr. Todd's video submission was to be no longer than 3 minutes and was geared more towards encouraging other health care providers to purchase a Multi Radiance Medical laser.  Todd then re-worked his video presentation into a 7 minute speech which is geared more toward a lay audience, rather than other doctors.  Dr. Austin thus delivered a Toastmaster basic manual presentation called "The TQ Solo - Solving Tough Shoulder Problems".  For more information on cold laser therapy or to view Dr. Todd's video, go to: http://www.afcvirden.com and click on the 'low level laser therapy' tab .

Martha Ruppert was in charge of the impromptu speaking part of the program.  Each member who was called upon had 2 minutes to speak on the topic  he or she was given. This made for some entertaining responses.

The club will next meet on Tuesday, 9-20-11 at the Challlacombe House in Hillsboro from 7 PM to 8 P.M.. Guests are always welcome. The prepared speakers for the next meeting will be Jamie Powers & Ryan Goodall.
