Sept. 7, 2011 - PRLog -- October 1st marks the launch of the Second Annual Bra Recycling Month. The event ties directly into Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Domestic Violence Awareness Month, which also fall in October. Bra Recycling Month aims to bring attention and awareness to these special causes, while offering women a unique opportunity to support these causes through the recycling of gently used and new bras. The ultimate mission of the month long event is to help re-shape a life.

As part of the month long recycling campaign, The Bra Recyclers have partnered with several like-minded organizations to provide weekly prize raffles to women who take part in reshaping a life during the month of October. Partners for Bra Recycling Month include businesses such as, Shelia Bowman with Cookie Lee Jewelry, the Bra Tree, Jenneration Fix, Bodacious Boutique, Itty Bitty Bra, Yours Only - Original Jewelry Design, and Soma Intimates, who recently collected over 76,000 bras in their nationwide "Giving Is Beautiful" campaign.

Women who recycle their bras in October will be entered into a drawing to win one of several great prizes, including:
- A $25 Gift Certificate to Cookie Lee Jewelry from Independent Consultant Sheila Bowman
- One Bra Tree
- BRAzaar Apparel T-shirts (four to be given away)
- A Gold Clutch with Black Lace from Jenneration Fix
- A Vintage Playbill Clock from Jenneration Fix
- $25 Gift Certificate from Bodacious Boutique
- 2 - $25 Gift Certificates from Itty Bitty Bra
- 4 - $25 Gift Certificates from Soma Intimates
- 1 - Custom-made Necklace from Yours Only, Original Jewelry Design ($50 value)

For Sheila Bowman with Cookie Lee Jewelry, Bodacious Boutique, and Itty Bitty Bra, this is their second year partnering for Bra Recycling Month. Bowman touches on the importance of bra recycling for her by noting, "I met Elaine a few years ago networking and believed in her cause. I have asked her to speak at various groups about the bra recycling and have had various groups clean out their drawers and donate their bras."

For other businesses, such as Bra Tree, this is their first time working alongside The Bra Recyclers. "I have always been a believer in giving back to the community but after reading what Elaine is doing for the women of domestic violence and how many different causes this
touches, I immediately wanted to be a part of what she is doing! It is impressive that she is having such an impact not only in the lives of young girls and women , but her contribution to the world by eliminating waste in the land fields is beneficial as well. I am proud to be a part of such a great group," said Angel Ruelas inventor of the unique bra organizer.

Bra Recycling Month also brings awareness to the importance of sustainability and delaying the amount of textile waste ending up in landfills. Partner organization, Jenneration Fix, who sell fun-eco friendly items produced from re-claimed materials, are excited about this opportunity to turn one woman's trash into another's treasure. "We love what the Bra Recyclers are doing! Like us, you are keeping trash out of the landfill, and in the process, giving something to people in need around the world! We love that you are involved so much in the community and are promoting awareness on two very important issues as well," said Jennifer Remington and Jennifer McClure.

Last year over 7,000 bras were recycled during Bra Recycling Month 2010. "This year our goal is to collect 10,000 recycled bras," said Birks-Mitchell. "We know we can do it, because this is a simple way for anyone to support Breast Cancer and Domestic Violence Awareness."
