Sept. 7, 2011 - PRLog -- Oxfordshire, UK 7 September, 2011: As a result of the Environment Agency's successful pilot project using Codegate's mobileworker for Waste Tracking, Codegate will be demonstrating how it uniquely enables waste producers to track their waste management and recycling performance across multiple carriers, materials recovery facilities (MRFs), disposers and brokers at this month's Recycling & Waste Management (RWM) Show - NEC, Birmingham, 13-15 September, 2011 - Stand 1955.

"For the first time, mobileworker for Waste Tracking software, enables major waste producers to track, trace and manage waste disposal through complete visibility of how their waste is handled across multiple carriers and/or brokers," explained Terran Churcher, Codegate's Chairman. Codegate is an independent mobile software solution developer specialising in mobile computing, track and trace applications.

"mobileworker for Waste Tracking enables waste producers to fulfil their Duty of Care by providing a full audit trail of waste collected, moved, sorted, recycled or land filled. Producers can now monitor the movement of waste, measure the amount of waste produced and importantly, manage how the waste is disposed," added Churcher.

Following a competitive tender process in 2009, Codegate won the contract with the Environment Agency to deliver a mobile waste tracking solution as a component of the Agency's Electronic Duty of Care pilot project aimed at delivering a proof of concept for waste carriers to enable them to better fulfil their obligations for duty of care.

"Codegate has worked with the Environment Agency for the past three years on the development of a mobile track and trace solution that electronically captures the information historically recorded manually on paper Waste Transfer Notes (WTNs)," explained Terran Churcher, Codegate's Chairman.

WTNs are absolutely key to the tracking of waste collected and where it is taken for disposal. The ability to create them electronically via Codegate's mobileworker for Waste Tracking software, running on mobile computers, will make the complete process of tracking WTNs simpler, faster and more accurate.

Working on the Environment Agency's Electronic Duty of Care pilot enabled Codegate to work directly with waste producers, carriers, MRFs and disposers to fully understand the problems surrounding the tracking of waste. The expertise gained has been used by Codegate to continue to develop its mobileworker for Waste Tracking software.

Codegate provides a complete mobile computing solution to be deployed by waste carriers. The solution includes Codegate's mobileworker for Waste Tracking software and the mobile computers carried by waste vehicle drivers, on which the mobileworker software runs, Codegate can also deliver a web hosting capability which allows waste carriers to simply monitor and manage WTNs via a web browser.

Additionally, mobileworker for Waste Tracking has the capability to deliver vehicle tracking using GPS enabling the capture of more data around the movement of waste. This functionality also has the added benefit of helping waste carriers to reduce their transport costs.

“I’m delighted that we can use the Recycling & Waste Management Show to demonstrate our unique solution to this increasingly important issue of correctly disposing of waste. We are very encouraged by the initial reaction of the major producers that have seen the early versions of mobileworker for Waste Tracking," concluded Churcher.
