The Discover America program spearheaded by United Van Lines brings these topics to life in an exciting and interactive visit to middle schools. Humboldt Storage and Moving comes to the school in an 18-wheeler moving van, comes into the classroom to talk about geography and travel and then students are treated to a tour of the moving van. Students can walk through all parts of the truck during the visit. The visit takes just over an hour.
The visit does not stop there. Each month, through May 2012, students receive a postcard from “Driver Dave” with a question about where he is that week and they can chart his course across the country with a map presented to them during the visit.
A video of the program can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/
