This Weekend: PROJECT Trio Concert, Brookline

PRLog (Press Release) - Sep. 6, 2011 - Classical/jazz/rock fusion concert!  The Boston Flute Academy presents Youtube sensation in first-ever Boston concert Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 8pm.  PROJECT Trio is a passionate, high energy chamber music ensemble comprised of three virtuosic composer/performers from Brooklyn, NY.  Featuring the famous beatboxing flutist Greg Pattillo, cellist Eric Stephenson, and bassist Peter Seymour, PROJECT Trio has received rave reviews from critics and concertgoers alike.  Blending their classical training with an eclectic taste in musical styles, PROJECT Trio has made an impact on audiences of all ages.  Bursting onto the scene with their landmark videos, right out of the internet generation, PROJECT Trio is a musical experience defining a new level of entertainment!

The concert will open with performances by BFA’s star flutists, including Brendan Dooley of Worcester, Emma Huelskamp of Natick, and Jinji Zhang of Boxborough, MA.  All three are among the nation’s leading high school flutists and are preparing for classical performance careers of their own.  For this concert, they will explore some of the techniques that Pattillo and PROJECT Trio have pioneered.  Their performances will include one of Pattillo’s compositions, featuring his trademark beatboxing.  It will be the first time in Boston that classically-trained high school flutists have performed this cutting-edge, challenging style in concert.  The audience will hear the exciting new sounds that young musicians are embracing for the future.

Greg Pattillo is recognized throughout the world for his redefinition of flute sound.  He was lauded by The New York Times as “the best person in the world at what he does.”  His groundbreaking performance videos on Youtube, showcasing “beatbox flute,” have been viewed more than 20 million times.
